FAQs

Q: What does my new recruit need to do to qualify for the discounted kit?
A: All she has to do is sign up during the promotion period. For her reference, you may want to strike out the original price and write the discounted price of £125 on the Starter Kit order form; however, the discounted price will be applied automatically. You can find the order form on the Demonstrator Web Site under My Business > My Business Resources > Printing Place.

Q: Do new recruits have to sign up to become a demonstrator at the Hobbycrafts show to get the special discounted Starter Kit price?
A: No. Any customer who signs up to become a new demonstrator during the promotion period (22 October-13 November) will automatically receive the special Starter Kit discount, whether she attends the Hobbycrafts show or not.

Q: How will Stampin’ Up!’s participation in the Hobbycrafts show benefit my business?
A: Because of Stampin’ Up!’s participation in the Hobbycrafts show, you may receive new leads from people who are either interested in holding a workshop or becoming a demonstrator. Read our Working with Leads training for tips and tricks on what to do when you receive a new lead.

Q: Why is the Starter Kit promotion running for such a limited time?
A: We are offering the promotion in conjunction with our participation in the Hobbycrafts show. The primary intent is to provide an incentive for those who attend the show to join the Stampin’ Up! family. However, we knew this offer would be helpful to you as well, so we wanted your customers to be able to participate even if they didn’t attend the show.

Dates: 1 November-29 December 2009

Details: You’ll love the convenience of our Christmas Gift-Giving Guide! With gift ideas for kids, teens, neighbours, and more, it’s your one-stop shop for all your Christmas needs.

Plus, when you spend £45 on products in the guide, you’ll get a FREE Tag or Small Tag punch--a £12.50 value!

FAQs

Q: Can a customer earn more than one FREE Tag or Small Tag punch?
A: Yes! For every £45 a customer spends on products in the Gift-Giving Guide, she can choose a Tag or Small Tag punch.

Q: Can a customer combine free punches to get a single more expensive punch?
A: No. Each free Tag or Small Tag punch a customer earns can only be used for one of those two punches.

Q: Does a customer have to spend £45 on products in the Gift-Giving Guide to qualify or can she spend £45 on any Stampin’ Up! products?
A: In order to qualify for the free Tag or Small Tag punch, a customer must purchase £45 worth of products from the Gift-Giving Guide.

Q: If a product is shown in the Gift-Giving Guide, but is not listed, does that product qualify for the promotion?
A: No. Only products listed in the Gift-Giving Guide qualify for the promotion.

Charity Walk

Well we made it! Despite some pretty atrocious weather conditions.
As we got down to catch the ferry we watched in resignation as the clouds and rain swept in and the Isle of Cumbrae disappeared into the mist!

The first hour or so of walking was not particularly pleasant with rain and wind but we stopped for lunch at Fintry Bay (it didn't look like that yesterday!) and managed to dry out a bit.

Wet and bedraggled at Fintry Bay L-R: Dot, Alison, Louise, Lynn, Me!

Alison and I have to put our wet T-shirts back on (no jokes about wet T-shirt competitions please!)

The second leg of the walk took us round into Millport where we were welcomed by a free cup of tea/coffee and some home-baking provided by the event sponsors! and Alison who joined us in the walk through the town. We made its far as Bobby's bar where we stopped for light refreshments (ie pear cider) before making our way on the last leg of the walk back round to the ferry terminal.

We finished about 5 hours after we started but we reckon we were actually walking for about 3 1/2 hours of that which given the weather conditions wasn't too bad.

L-R: Alison, Dot, Louise, me, Lynn

Once again thank you to all of you who supported me. It really is very much appreciated! Thanks guys!

First Communion Cards

Then on Sunday it was our friends' son Andrew's first communion. Luckily the weather brightened up and we all got to sit outside in the sunshine with some Rosé!

This was the card I made - the stamp is (I think) by Penny Black. The letter stickers were in my pile of alpha stickers so no idea who they are by and the sentiment was printed out on the computer.

I coloured the image in using SU markers and the background papers are the from the gorgeous SU Wintergreen pack (now retired - grab them quick if you want some before they go out of stock - especially with the buy 3 get a 4th pack free offer that is on throughout May).

And last but not least this is the card I made for my friend's daughter who was also making her first communion on Sunday. I adore these Miss Anya stamps from the greeting farm. Coloured in using SU markers and the paper is from the tea Party designer series paper pack.

Card Swap

My upline Dawn organised a card swap recently and these were the samples I came up with. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else made as we have such talented people in our little SU family. The first two use the From the Garden (level 1 hostess gift) stamp. This is a huge stamp and I couldn't decide if I liked it better coloured in using a pretty in pink marker or left "au natural".

Other supplies used:
Paisley Background stamp
Oval All stamps
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Pretty in pink, certainly celery
Ink & markers: Chocolate chip, certainly celery, pretty in pink
Punches: Oval, Scalloped oval

Add Image
My other design (yes we had to make two different cards x8 of each) used the Pick a Petal set - I love this set. It is so versatile. As well as using it to stamp flowers it can also be used to make lady bugs, butterflies, hearts and even surf boards...and lots more as well.

Background Cardstock: certainly celery & pretty in pink
Paper: Green check from Holiday Treasures pack (not just for Christmas!); Assorted pink petals stamped on Sweet Always paper
Sentiment from Best Yet (level 1 hostess set)
Stem from Petal Pizzaz (I think! One of the new ones from the mini anyway - too lazy to run upstairs and check!)

I also had to make a card for my 14 year old nephew's birthday. And as we were giving him money (what else for a teen!) I decided to make a card that looked (a bit) like a wallet.

Twilight Walk around Cumbrae

What will you be doing on Saturday 23rd May?

I'll be walking round the scenic isle of Cumbrae, sun, rain or hail ( I sincerely hope its the former but with the weather recently it could be all three!!!) to raise funds for Breast Foot Forward. BFF is a Scottish charity and its mission is to contribute to making Scotland renowned for excellence in Breast Cancer diagnosis and care. It works to influence the thinking of those who can ensure that projects link up with other activities to establish and maintain a comprehensive breast cancer care environment, no matter where you live.

If you'd like to sponsor me then my just giving page can be found here or if you live in Millport (waves to Alison) you can come and cheer us on :)

I know times are hard at the moment but if you can spare just £2 I'd be very grateful.

If anyone donates £5 or more then I'll email you a copy of my class instructions for my mini magazine file (which I am more than happy for you to use to teach your own class if you like - just give me credit please). Just let me know once you've made your donation if you'd like a copy of the instructions and let me have your email address.

For those donating £10 or more I'll put your name in a draw for some Stampin' Up! goodies including a wheel guide, jumbo handle, Neighbourhood wheel and ink cartridge.

Happy Easter

A bit early I know but I thought I'd share this card I made using the little chick from Fun & Fast notes. The sentiment is from the Occasional Greetings set (a very handy set to have as it includes both mother's day and father's day greeting as well as lots more). The cardstock is Old Olive and So Saffron and one of the So Saffron layers has been stamped using the Canvas background stamp and So Saffron ink.
The ribbon is the NEW striped grosgrain from the Occasions Mini catalogue.

AND REMEMBER - any pre-orders for the new Occasions mini catalogue items must be with me by 6pm this evening

This card will be winging its way "across the water" to celebrate the arrival of a liitle cutie, Jack who finally put in an appearance today (after a couple of false starts LOL) You can read all about it on Alison's blog.

Huge congratulations to the new Gran and Mum. x

A few cards...

First of all a big thank you to all the ladies who came along to class today. As always you were all great company and it was great to have some time to spend with two of my downlines Louise and Annette.

This was the card I demo'd in my workshop last week. Its a spring card and once you know how to make the folds it really easy but so effective. There's a tutorial over on Split Coast Stampers

I used my new A Rose is A Rose set - I think this might just be my new favourite - especially as I earned it for free during sale-a-bration. Yet another perk of being a demonstrator with Stampin' Up!

Stamps: A Rose Is A Rose, Its Beautiful Wheel
Card: Old Olive, Regal Rose, Whisper White
Ink: Old Olive, Regal Rose,
Ribbon: Old Olive 5/8" Grosgrain
Tools: Stamp-a-Ma-Jig & Wheel Guide

Then I used it again to make a Mother's Day card for my mum (obviously!!! LOL )

I used Tempting Turquoise (as this is my mum's favourite colour) and Mellow Moss.
The "Happy Mother's Day" stamp is from a set called Occasional Greetings and this was stamped with versamark and embossed with white embossing powder.

This next card was my swap card. A group of demonstrators over on ILWS got together and made some cards featuring some of the new stamp sets and products from the Occasions Mini Catalogue. We each had to make 9 cards the same and then we will end up with 9 different cards all using new stamps.

Stamp set: Fresh Cuts
The card base is one of the newFresh Cuts Notes
(you get 15 pre-cut cards and envelopes in a pack for £6.95),
Ink and background card: Perfect Plum
Accessories: 5 petal flower punch (in velum) and new oval punch

And lastly today this was the make and take we did at the workshop last week

Stamps: Simply Said, Circle of Friendship
Card: Regal Rose, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Pretty In Pink
Designer Series Paper: Sweet Always

Yessss! We have now got a Mini Stampin' Up! catalogue here in the UK - click on the picture on the right hand side. Lots of lovely new stamp sets, some ribbons, NEW OVAL PUNCHES (love, love, love these!) some new patterned papers and some other fab accessories.

However if you really can't wait you could always sign up as a demo and pre-order any of the items from the mini plus you will also receive a demo discount of 20% off the price of all the stamps sets in the mini. Happy New Year, Happy Valentines and anything else I might have missed :-)

Oh my goodness I can't believe it has been so long since I posted. Its also been a long time since I stamped anything either! Although I did manage to make this card from my DH for valentine's last week
Anyway back crafting again now - thank goodness.

Sale-A-Bration

Sale-a-bration is ending on 28 February. For every £45 spent you can chose from one of four stamp sets free. I know that lots of you have already taken advantage of this offer but for those of you who have still to order please don't leave it too late. These stamps will not be available again after 28 February 2009! Click on the link above to see the free sets available.

Also if anyone would like to host a workshop before the sale-a-bration offer ends then please let me know as soon as possible and I'll do my best to squeeze you in. If your workshop has sales of over £300 then you will also get a free sale-a-bration set as well as the usual generous hostess benefits.

Finally if you are thinking of signing up as a demonstrator now is the time to do it as you can chose any set, yes absolutely any set, from the main catalogue for free on top of the items in your starter pack.

Over the past couple of months I have had a few questions about what is required once you sign up as a demo so I thought I would share the information here in case any of you have the same question:

What do I have to do once I become a demo?

That's up to you.

You can chose to make a successful business sharing a craft you love and meeting lots of new friends along the way.

You can just use the demonstrator discount to purchase items for yourself and/or maybe a few friends. As long as you sell £250 of product a quarter you will remain a demonstrator.

Or you can purchase the starter pack (great value) and then never purchase anything further as a demonstrator.

There is absolutely no obligation or pressure to purchase any further products.

If anyone is interested in hosting a workshop or signing up then do please give me a call on 01475 689958.
